KIRK-WINDEYER GUP [Feu United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, April 29. There will be no contest for the KirkWindcyer Cup. which hitherto has been held annually between golfing teams representing New Zealand and the Commonwealth. Recently the New Zealand Golf Council wrote to the New South Wales Council suggesting that in view of prevailing economic depression the contest should bo postponed this year.

“ i wish to inform you,” replied Mr It. J. Withycombe, secretary of the New South Wales Council, in a letter received by the secretary of the New Zealand Council to-day, “ that the suggestion by your association that the Kirk-Wlncleyer Cup matches for 1931 should he postponed was considered by my council, and it was decided that your request be acceded to, coupled with the suggestion that in view of the postponement the venue of the matches in 1932 should still bo in Sydney. Naturally all golfers in Australia will bo sorry to miss this interesting competition oven if only for one year, but, as you say, the present economic situation is such as to make it * obligatory for the two councils to come to this decision.”
