A committee, comprised of many of tho loading dignitaries of the Episcopal Church, has prepared a report which is to bo submitted to the General Episcopal Church Conference at Denier on September IC, recommending tho removal from tho church laws of all grounds for divorce, including adultery, A new “ canon of matrimony defines nine grounds for tho annulment of marriage, and requests that Ministers of the Church, their own approval, bo permitted to marry persons who havo already been divorced, on whatever grounds, if such marriage is allowed by a recommended ecclesiastical marital court, and if performed by a special service not within tho church or with the use of tho Common Prayer Book. The committee will also ask that public and private instruction on marriage bo made compulsory. Without these stipulations, combined with a written pledge that both parties will conform to tho church’s doctrines, marriage by an episcopal priest is to bo forbidden.

At tho same time a report was prepared requesting the Presbyterian Church to approve of birth control by artificial means.
