Early last year Congress authorised national commemoration of this epoch, and President Hoover issued a proclamation calling upon tho Amorimnn people to observe this important event, 'the first concrete response to tho President’s proclamation came from Raoul Walsh, Pox Eilm ejirector, advising tho nation’s chief executive that during April, 193 U, ho would start production of ‘ Tho Rig Trail,’ the most important picture ever produced, and upon its completion would dedicate it to the memory of the pioneers who, one hundred years ago. braved the dangers and hardships of tho trail to the West. This epic Fox Movietone, which opefis at tho Princess Theatre on Friday, vividly depicts tho history of the major movement westward; tho bravery, the faith, and the fortitude of these liberty-hungry, home-hungry pioneers, facing the dangers, tho obstacles, and tho menaces of that virgin and unexplored country without the flinching of an eye or the entertainment of tho slightest thought of turning back.
