WINTER SHOW

All ’ tho entries received for factory cheese and butter at the Otago Winter Show have been placed in cool stores, where they will remain'for six weeks before being judged by tho Government graders. ’ The cheese and butter, when exhibited, should' be as near as possible in the saihe condition as - if they had been shipped to London. The fruit to be entered in the expbrt fruit competition will be selected from main shipments to London by the Government orchard instructor, and which must have been passed by him for shipment The same conditions apply to pears, which have to; be packed under Government regulations. The Otago Boys’ and Girls’ Agricultural Club, conducted by the Agricultural Department, has a calf-rearing competition, • and it is expected that accommodation will bo required for at least fourteen calves. In addition classes have been added for carrots, mangels, and bottled fruit, etc., and iti is anticipated that this section will b(i well represented. A complete list of judges has been nominated for tho various sections, and matters are now in a forward condition. Applications for space are coming in freely, and the Space Committee intends to make its first allocation next week. It would be of great assistance to the committee if intending exhibitors would advise what space they require as early ns possible. Tho society has secured the usual adjoining halls, and hopes to bo able to secure again one of Messrs Dalgety and Co.’s wool stores should more accommodation be required. Tins building last year was used for exhibiting tho homo industries section, and enabled the committee to have it displayed to advantage.
