PRINCES IN PERU
FOUR AND A-HALF HOURS’ FLIGHT ARRIVAL AT AREQUIPA Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LIMA, February 15. The Prince of Wales and Prince George and their entourage left Las Palmas military field at noon to-day in a three-motored aeroplane, and arrived at Arequipa, their destination, four and a-half hours later. They will spend several days in the southern Peruvian regions. SPEECH IN SPANISH. AREQUIPA, February 15. The Princes saw one of the grandest volcanoes of the Peruvian Andes to-day while en route from/Lima, as the aeroplane before landing circled over Mount Misti. The Princes wore greeted at the landing field by the mayor of the city, the British Consul, and thousands of other people. The Prince of Wales replied to a speech of welcome by the mayor in Spanish, greatly delighting the thousands who had gathered on Poronogocho field, where the plane landed. Later the Princes motored to Arequipa, and at the city hall were given the freedom of the city by the mayor. Later they received greetings from the British colony.
