From Auckland via ports, the Waipiata came alongside the Cross wharf this morning to discharge cargo. She sails to-night for Bluff. The Opihi loads at Dunedin next Monday for Nelson and New Plymouth via ports. The John is due here from Wellington on Friday to withdraw for overhaul and survey. The Canadian Transporter was to sail this afternon for Timaru, Wellington, and Auckland to complete loading for New York, Boston, and Halifax. THE FERRY SERVICE. - The Wahine, from Wellington, arrived at Lyttelton at 6.45 a.m. to-day, and passengers and mails connected with the express for the south. EXAMINATION PASSES. The following pupils of the Richmond Nautical School were successful in the first of the new examinations for masters and mates conducted by the Marine Department:—Mr D. E. Vellenoweth; second mate, foreign-going, Mr T. B. Sinel, sectional pass in signals. KIWITEA IN PORT. The. Union Company’s steamer Kiwitea arrived this morning from Melbourne and Adelaide via northern ports. She brought Australian cargo for discharge here, and was to leave this afternoon for Lyttelton. MAHENO FROM MELBOURNE. The intercolonial steamer Maheno arrived early this morning from Melbourne via Bluff to disembark passengers and discharge general cargo. She is timed to sail at 4 o’clock to-morrow afternoon for Lyttelton, Wellington, Bluff, Melbourne. SURREY’S LOADING. The New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the Surrey is now due hero on, Tlufrsday evening from Wellington to continue loading for Home. PORT DUNEDIN’S LOADING. Messrs H. L. Tapley and Co. advise that the O. and D. Line motor ship Port Dunedin is due at Port Chalmers from Bluff to-morrow morning to load wool and frozen meat for the United Kingdom. She-later goes to Wellington to fill up. FUKU MARU AT AUCKLAND. The Japanese steamer Fuku Maru arrived at Auckland yesterday with a full' cargo of sulphur for discharge at Auckland, Wanganui, Lyttelton, and Port Chalmers. She is due down here towards the end of the month. GOLDEN. pLOUD ARRIVES.: The Oceanic and Oriental steamer Golden Cloud arrived at Dunedin this morning froin Los Angeles via Apia, and northern ports. She berthed at the Victoria wharf. The vessel, which brought a cargo of timber and case oil from tlio Pacific Coast, _ loaded 3,000 crates of, bananas at Apia, and these wore discharged on arrival at Auckland. After leaving Apia the Golden Cloud met with squally weather _and strong head winds delayed her.arrival. The vessel will be despatched for Sydney to-morrow, afternoon. PERSONAL. Mr W. J. Hill has relieved Mr R. D. Brainier, second officer of the Waipiata, for instructions. Captain G. M, Ruxton, master of the Kurow, and Captain W. A. Gray, of the Kartigi, have exchanged vessels.
