BAD LOCALITY CLEARED LARGE NUMBER KILLED. ft*u Anociation—By Telegraph—Copyright. HONGKONG. January 8. A message from the Chief of Staff at the 4th Chinese Naval Headquarters at Hoihow, Hainan Island, states that a large number of bandits were killed and others captured. The locality is now. completely cleared, and peace had 'been restored. This message follows the urgent despatch of British and American war•nips some weeks ago in response to an appeal to protect British and American missionaries.
