There was a splendid atetndanco of thirty members and visitors at the meeting of the Dunedin Philatelic Club held at the Y.M.C.A. last week, Mr J. M'Ara presiding. Five new members joined. The syllabus for 1931 (commencing with the February meeting), arranged by a full executive, should prove highly instructive and interesting, The subject for the evening was li au exhibition by members of stamps on original covers,” and many valuable and unique items were banded- round. Portugal.—Xew pictorial stamps for both ordinary and aerial postage are imminent from this country. Tonga.—A new printing of tho current 2d stamp, with portrait of Queen Saboto, is reported, and ith colours are now deep purple and grey. Record Prices for Canadian' Stamps. —Tho sum of £3SG was obtained at a recent stamp auction sale in London for eight blocks of the Canadian 1859 17c. blue, consisting of fifty-six stamps, catalogued £9l. These were previously unknown in blocks.

Argentine Republic. Tiro special stamps, to commemorate the revolution of September last, have .been issued, values 5 and 12 centavos. Tho use of special stamps for telegraphic purposes is to bo abolished, and the existing series wore suppressed as from November 1.
