FORESTERS
The fortnightly meeting of Court Enterprise was held in tho court room, Oddfellows’ Hall, Stuart street, on Tuesday evening, there being a good attendance of members. C.lt. lira. D. Mercer presided. Tho court was in mourning for tho late Bro. Alex. Polwarth. The C.Il. asked the members to stand in silence to his memory. A letter of condolence to be sent to tho family. Two candidates were initiated. The court is being built up strongly in both membership and financially. The toast of “ Tho Visitors ” was responded to by Bro. Chalmers (Court Pride of Green Island), and P.C.11. Bro. Alex. Watson (Court Pride of Dunedin), who complimented Court Enterprise on the manner in which it looked after the old members by setting an evening aside for that purpose. Several members spoke on their visit to Court Woodlands _ Pride (female court) and Court Pride of Dunedin. botli having held social functions. After tho close of the meeting P.D.C.R. Bro. W. Ibbotson was voted to tho chair, and welcomed quite a number of visitors, including several ladies. This part of the evening was set apart for old members’ night and presentation of trophies to those who had reached fifty years’ membership, there being three this year Bros. Scrivener, Pitts, and P.D.C.R. Bro. Stratton, who cacli received a silver fruit tray, suitably inscribed. Only one of the three was able to bo in attendance (Bro. Scrivener). Bro. Chalmers, on behalf of his sister, who is now residing in Edievale, received a box of cutlery, she being runner-np in the card tournaments. P.C.11. Bro. S. B. Brittoll received a
gold watch, having won the four tournaments (sixteen nights), '(’he musical programme comprised: Piano selection, Dir Hargraves; violin and piano, Miss Duncan and Bro. If. Boyer; guitar selection, Bro. West; sou'itr — P.D.C.R. Bro. W. Ibbotson, P.C.11. Bro. A. M'Leod, P.O.R. Bro. G. Currie, who were all recalled, after which supper was dispensed by the court officers.
