MINIATURE RIFLE NOTES

A very enjoyable evening was spent in the lI.S. A. Club rooms on Tuesday, the occasion being the combined social and presentation of prizes of the Otago Miniature Rifle Association and affiliated clubs. The (proceedings _ were opened with the toast “ The King-’’ Other toasts were: “The R.S.A. Miniature Rifle Club and Sister Clubs,”• coupled with the name of, Mr J. Skinner (president of the Dunedin R.S.A.), proposed by Mr W. Meikle and responded to bv Messrs J. Skinner, O'.; Holden, W. White, R. Finder, H. Davis, and Reilly; “ The Otago Miniature Rifle Association,” coupled with the names of Messrs W. Meikle, F. J. Silvius, and R. Brace, proposed by Colonel J. A. P. Fredric, and responded: to by Messrs W. Meikle and R. Bruce. Musical items were provided by Messrs W. White, W. Strang, and G. Ansel!, a duet by Messrs Holden and Ansell, and choruses by the Mr W. Armstrong was the accompanist. Entertaining sleight of hand tricks were provided by Mr W. Jones. The prizes connected with the O.M.R.A. championship were presented by Mr Meikle, and Included the Champion Team’s Cup, which was won by the Dunedin Miniature Rifle Club, the O.M.R.A. Champion Cup, won by Mr R. Gillick_ (Dunedin), and other prizes won by Riflemen Marr, Judson, Webb, Finder,_ Baugben. Crimp, and Keen. The prizes won by members of tho R.S.A. Club were presented by Colonel J Fredric and Mr J. Skinner. _ The list was as follows;—Marr Handicap: M. Harvey 1, S. Ewens 2. _W. Meikle 3.Pjnder and Davis Handicap: W: Goudie 1, S. Harvev 2, R. Bowie 3. Club Handicap: A. J. Gordon 1, Colonel Fredric 2, H. A. Edmonds 3. Don. M‘Kay Self Handicap; R.'Finder 1. The Lieutenant Walter Mackenzie Memorial Cup was won by Mr D. Marr, with J. Judson runner-up, and J.: M‘Kee third. In presenting r.lns tiophy Mr Skinner made reference to the soldier in whoso memory the cup had been donated and to the Mackenzie family as a whole. For the most improved shot of the season Mr M. Harvey was the winner. The cups for members of the Railway Club were awarded to Messrs H. Webb and Griffiths.
