REGAL SKATING RINK
— The floor at the Regal Skating Rink in Cumberland street was heavily taxed last evening, when a late-night" session was. held. One attraction was the linal of tho Guc-inilo Handicap, The surface of the floor was in excellent condition, making skating both easy and fast, and the programme went through without a hitch, thanks to the good management of tho events. In addition to the large number of skaters there was a splendid attendance of spectators, who were treated to an enjoyable evening’s entertainment. The race of the evening was won by Mr T. Stott, who put up a line exhibition. Ho is considered by the management to be a coming champion. Mr B. Richmond was run-ner-up, and also raced well. Sessions to-night will be held as usual between tho hours of 6 and 7 and 8 and 10.30. Two reminders—that the children’s fancy dross carnival will take place on Friday afternoon, from 2.30 to 4, and that tho season concludes on Saturday night, the occasion to bo marked by the holding of a fancy dress carnival. Tho special programme of novelties, races, and competitions for that night will commence at 7.30 and will conclude at 11.30.
