A record crowd is expected at the air port at North Taieri on Sunday afternoon to see a display of spectacular Hying by Flying-ofiicer E. G. Olsen, the Otago Aero Club’s pilot-instructor. This display will bo given shortly alter 3 o’clock, allowing ample time for city people travelling out by bus to reach tho aerodrome. Special arrangements are being made for parking _ motor cars inside the ground. Motorists are requested to use the lower gate, as the main entrance is now closed to all traffic, and park their cars with the backs against tho fence. Thus, it is hoped to avoid the acute traffic tangle which developed on the evening of Oscar Garden’s arrival, when the roadway near “the bridge and opposite the main gateway _ was completely blocked in all directions. Last Sunday the spectators were treated to a thrilling display of “stunt” flying, whicli many consider the best ever seen in Dunedin. Corporation buses will run to the airport via Wingatui in the afternoon as usual. A very sucessful garden fete was opened in the grounds of St. Dominic s Priory yesterday. Stalls with large quantities of goods of a very varied character were arranged in the pavilion bordering the tennis courts, and these were well patronised during the afternoon. It was evident that friends of the movement had been_ numerous and generous, the tables being loaded with articles for sale at very reasonable prices. In addition to tho stalls there was a Christmas tree for the young people, and a “ lucky wheel which was a centre of considerable interest. Tho stall-holders were kept busy both yesterday and to-day disposing of tlie useful goods with which the various stalls wore laden. As a result of the campaign held in town last night to raise funds for the Sanders Cup contest in February, the Otago Yacht and Motor Boat Club benefited to the extent of about hi. The ex-champion fourteen - footer Heather was used as the headquarters, find she presented a very attractive appearance on a lorry in front of the Town Hall, with all sails set and with electric bulbs glowing m the Jigging. Young ladies, dressed in yachting kit, were responsible for selling a large number of tickets for the concert to ho held next week, while an enjoyable musical programme was contributed by the Broad Bay Boating Club s Orchestra. On Thursday of this week was held the annual party given hy the ladies of tho Barnardo Habitation to; those pupils of the St. Clair School who collect for Dr Barnardo’s Homes, and it was a most successful affair. This recipe is the subject of a most beautiful and artistic poster issued by the Empire Marketing Board to show that all the ingredients named are produced within the British Empire. Persons who go to the Dunedin railway station may see a copy of the poster in a frame on the station railings. The President of the National Government in China and commander-in-chief of its forces, General Chiang KaiShek, is a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. The information that the general was privately baptised and received into the church is contained in a letter from Mr W. H. Warren, acting secretary at Shanghai of the China Inland Mission,_ said letter appearing in ‘ China’s Millions,’ the journal of the mission that is published at Melbourne, a copy of which was received to-day in Dunedin by Mr John Wilkinson.
