WOOL AUCTIONS
FIRST CHRISTCHURCH SALE GERMANY THE PRINCIPAL BUYER [Tr.n Untied Press Associ'atiox.] GIIRISTCHURC.iI, December 12. The first Christchurch wool sale of the present season was held to-day. There was a full bench of buyers representing Bradford, the Continent, and America, also local mills. The catalogue comprised 17,100 hales. The wool opened up satisfactorily considering the variable season. There were some very choice clips. Much of the wool was light in condition, and there was a fair proportion of tender wool, duo to the _ hard season. The bulk of the offerings consisted of wool of fifty count or over. The sale was firm at relative North Island values, the higher range of prices being no more than the comparative value of the' higher grade of the Wool. The’principal element in the market for ordinary wools was Germany, one representative dominating the competition. Bradford bought _ with no more freedom than in the North, and America was practically out of the market. The best lyools went to the local mills. RANGE OF PRICES.
