REGAL SKATING RINK
SPECIAL CARNIVAL DAY Despite the numerous counter-attrac-tions, roller skating continues to bo one of the most popular pastimes of young and old of this city, and daily and nightly the attendances at the Regal Rink, Cumberland street, are large. Today marks the twentieth week of the rink’s existence, and to celebrate the occasion the management has organised a special carnival day. Tho programmes this morning and this afternoon consisted of specialty skating, races, and novelty events for boys and girls and men and women, and the visitors were unanimous in their praise of the management’s handling of the programme. The festivities will bo carried on thisevening, when a packed floor should be the result. • It remains to be seen what success this function will attain, but it is safe to assume that no better evening’s entertainment could be found for roller enthusiasts than a visit tc% tho rink to-night. One of the features of the programme will be the final of the waltzing couples competition. Tho session will be held between tho hours of 7.30 and 11. Attention is drawn to the announcement on another page of further special attractions that have been arranged for the entertainment of skaters at the Regal Rink.
