(Received November 5, at 11 a.m.) The ‘Herald’ says:—“Phar Lap definitely proved himself champion oi all trie thoroughbreds that have raced on

the Australian turf, and is worthy of inclusion in the select list of outstanding gallopers of the world. Making light ot his tremendous weight, the greatest allotted a four-yoar-old in the history of the Melbourne Cup, lie came through the loaders at tho turn like a flash of lightning, and, taking lull control at tho two furlongs, treated tho spectators to one of the most perfect exhibitions of machine-liko galloping ever witnessed.

“Tho ease with which lie accomplished his task made tho rest of tho hold appear very moderate horses. It was one of tho easiest wins in Cup history. Trugilla’s dash Avas short lived, and Balloon King’s effort was disappointing. Second Wind continued on much bettor than had been anticipated, while Shodaw King had to exert himself to tho utmost to take the third money from old Donald.” WINNERS TO DATE.
