NOMINATIONS RECEIVED [Pxit Hotted Pkess Association.] WELLINGTON, November 5. The Farmers’ Union has decided to support tho nomination of Mr A, E, Fowler as tho representative of the primary producers on the Unemployment Board. The selection of Mr Fowler by the Sheepowners’ Federation was announced by telegraph from Christchurch, and later in the day it was announced from headquarters that tho Farmers’ Union would support tho selection. Mr Fowler has had experience as a sheep farmer, and was the farmers’ representative on the commission which inquired into the special cases of hardship created by the imposition of tho super-land tax last year. Tho complete remissions _of the tax amounted to £86,552, while reductions were made amounting to £31,734—a total saving to tho farming community of £118,286. CHRISTCHURCH, November 4. The nomination of Mr F. L. Hutchinson to represent the secondary industries on tho Unemployment Board has been endorsed by the Canterbury Employers’ Association and Master Builders’ Association. The Timber Workers’ Union tonight nominated Mr G. T. Thurston (Christchurch) and Mr T. Bloodworth (Auckland). The retail shop assistants nominated Messrs Thurston and W- Bromley (Wellington). These two were also nominated by the Canterbury General Labourers’ Union. Mr C. E. Baldwin, president of the New Zealand Workers’ Union, who had been nominated as the workers’ representative, has withdrawn his nomination, on the ground that he considers tho Minister’s powers under the Act are too great. Ho contends that there should he an election for tho workers’ representative. A similar protest was made to-night by the Timber Workers’ Union, hut the union sent forward l nominations.
