THE DEAD AIRMEN

PILGRIMAGE TO GRAVE THOUSANDS VISIT CARDINGTON. Frees Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, October 12. (Received October 13, at 1.45 p.m.) A year ago to-day the public first saw IllOl’s mooring mast, to which she was moored after her completion. Thousands then arrived at Cardington to see the now wonder of the skies. To-day thousands are again visiting the spot, but for a pilgrimage to the grave of IllOl’s dead, who thus for the second time are lying in state—in the still open grave which the workmen are slowly filling in. Tho cemetery has been closed except to the relatives. Air Force men are guarding the gate, but visitors descended in motors and charabancs, with which the roads are black for miles, and clustered in the neighbourhood, paying reverence to the heroes. Hundreds brought wreaths, which were added to tho 3,000 already lying in the cemetery.
