Three unknown men in a closed car fired twenty shots at a police sergeant named Taylor, his wife, and two friends as they entered the Lamington Road Police Station, Bombay, early this morning. Sergeant Taylor was wounded in the hand, and his wife received three bullets in the leg. A number of youths have been arrested on suspicion of complicity in the outrage. , SWIFT ACTION CONGRESS HEADQUARTERS RAIDED. DELHI, October 12. (Received October 13, at 10 a.m.) The Bombay Government has taken swift action under the new ordinance, and has declared eighty-six Congress and allied associations in the Presidency unlowful. It is also announced that twenty-eight Congress offices in various districts will be taken possession of immediately. Over 200 police made a lightning raid on tho Congress headquarters at Surat and hauled down tho Congress flag, which has floated for months oyer tho buildings, and hoisted the Union Jack in its place. Thirty arrests were made. The police also made a simultaneous raid on the agitators’ headquarters at Villo Park, a suburb of Bombay. This resulted in fifty-seven arrests, including three women. All were later sentenced to Varying terms of imprisonment. The United Provinces Government has declared Congress organisations in tho Benares district illegal.
