H.M.S. REVENGE

REPORTS DENIED STATEMENT BY ADMIRALTY. (British Official Wireless.) Pr«». Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. RUGBY, October 7. The Admiralty has issued the following announcement:—“Certain sections of the Press have published a rumour to the effect that men of H.M.S. Revenge have behaved in an insubordinate manner. The Admiralty desires to deny this rumour categorically. During the stay of the vessel at Golfe-Juan, near Nice, which lasted over nine days, an average of 340 men have enjoyed leave on shore daily. In this period there have been thirty-five men who have returned late from shore leave. Included in this number are two who have not yet returned, and they am posted as deserters. There is no truth whatever in the allegation of men refusing to return on board, nor of men behaving with disrespect to their captain, nor of trouble having broken out in the ship, nor of complaints having been made about the food.”
