OUT ALL NIGHT IN SNOW
FATAL PIG HUNT MAN COLLAPSES AND DIES [l’eu United Vkess Association.] TI.MA.RU, September 21. Tragedy attended a pig-shooting expedition during the week-end. Three men—George Constable and Edward Johnston, of Hilton, and Thomas Watts, of Christchurch—-left Nentzo’s Gully, ten miles from Geraldine, early on Saturday morning for the llluo Mountains. The party took a short cut when returning, and were hopelessly lost in a fog and the darkness. Snow commenced to fall, and the party decided to camp for the night between 9 and 10 o’clock. At 5 o’clock" this morning Constable collapsed and expired. Johnston and Watts went for assistance. Watts, however, injured his leg, and Johnston proceeded .'done, reaching the homo of Mr S. Noutze at 7.45 a.m. A message was sent to the police at Geraldine, and search parties were organised. . Meanwhile Watts reached Air N’entze’s homo. Constable’s body was recovered later. The deceased was a married man, with four children. *
