MONTHLY MEETING OF BOARD SCHEDULE OF WORKS The monthly meeting of the Drainage Board was held last evening. The following were present:—The mayor (Mr R. S. Black), Messrs J. Wilson, W. Begg, J. J. Marlow, F. L. Lawrence, C. Conn, J. J. Clark, J. B. Shacklock, F. W. Mitchell,,... W. A. Scott, and J. Beattie. The Town Clerk stated that no objection had been received regarding the raising or a £250,000 loan for the purpose of extending the drainage and sewerage system in the board’s district, application to he made to tho Local Government Loans Board. It was only necessary now to,pass the resolution. Mr Wilson moved accordingly, and the resolution was passed. In moving the adoption of the Works Committee’s report, Mr Wilson referred to, the proposed schedule of drainage and sewerage work for the first instalment of £IOO,OOO out of tho proposed £250,000 loan. The schedule as approved would accompany the application to the Loans Board for authority to raise the loan. The principal items in the schedule were. Anderson’s Bay road (intercepting conduit), £21,000; Wilkie road, storm water conduit, section, across reclaimed land, £23,800 (half-cost Otago Harbour Board, £ll,900), foreshore to King Edward street, £26,300 (£20,000 included in £90,000 loan), £6,300, total £18,200; South Dunedin, storm water scheme (including Cargill road), on account, £15,000; Porto|bcllo road pumping plant, buildings, and collecting well for Flat.storm water, ‘ half-cost, £5,000; Chambers street 12in and 15in storm water (Evans street and Signal Hill road), £4,000; Manor street (extension or storm water conduit across foreshore, half-cost, £3,800. Mr Clark thought it ought to be distinctly understood that the schedule must bo strictly adhered to unless the council authorised an amendment or alteration. It would be a breach cf faith if this schedule was approved and then altered without tho consent of the council or board. Mr Wilson stated that the schedule would : be adhered to, and that there was no chance of deviating any of tho moneys set out for specific purposes. The report was adopted. Tho report of tho Finance Committee was adopted and accounts amounting to £21,333 2s 9d were passed for payment. The following tenders were accepted:—Supply and delivery of 100 tons _ of mild, steel reinforcing rods (Iron and Steel Company of New Zealand, Ltd., Dunedin), £1,078 Is 4d; supply and delivery of steel boxing for Wilkie road storm water conduit (Iron and Steel Company of New Zealand, Ltd., Dunedin), £794.
