NEXT ATTRACTION AT PRINCESS Piquant Irene Bordoni, French accent and all, will be seen and heard here for the first time in a motion picture with the opening to-morrow of ‘ Paris ’ at the Princess Theatre. Tho brilliant Broadway favourite was captured by the First NationalVitaphone studios to go out to Hollywood and make a talkie of her New York hit. The camera has caught the vivid personality of tho actress, who began, her career at tho Theatre Varieties in Paris and has since become renowned in both hemispheres. ‘ Paris ’ is tho spicy story of a Boston family with Mayflower ancestry who land in the French capital to prevent tho marriage of their son to an actress. It is an all-dialogue production with musical sequences depicting tho French theatre. And some of the lavishly brilliant scenes aro made in technicolour. Bordoni seems destined to become us popular with screen audiences as she was with New York theatre goers. In Hollywood she gained a largo following as soon as tho first “ rushes ” of her picture appeared. Through Vitaphone another unique personality .has been transferred from the stage to the synchronised screen. ' Jack Buchanan, English comedian, and Louise Glosser Hale, who played in the footlight production of ‘ Paris,’ take prominent supporting roles. Jason Robards, Margaret Fielding, and Zazu Pitts are also in tho cast.
