AUSTHALIAH CHAMPIONSHIPS MELBOURNE, September 10. Id trie first round of the interstate matches, which arc played on the second day of the national meeting on the metropolitan links, New South Wales defeated South Australia by five matches to two. Victoria won all their seven matches against Tasmania, and Victoria beat New South Wales by five matches to two. M. J Rjan, the Victorian amateur champion, defeated Len Ncttlefold, of Tasmania, by a single hole, and he also beat H Morrison, of New South Wales, at tho twenty-third hole.
