IMPORTANT MERGER
CADBURY’S IN NEW ZEALAND CONTROLLING INTEREST IN R. HUDSON AND CO. PURCHASED Following the arrival of Mr Barrow Cadbury, who is chairman of Cadbury Bros., Ltd., and of the joint board of Cadburys’ and Frys’, it is announced that the firm of Cadbury Bros., Ltd., of Bournville, has purchased as from March 31 next, a controlling interest in tho old-established firm of R. Hudson and Co., Ltd., Dunedin, manufacturers of chocolate, confectionery, biscuits, and flour. This business was founded by tlie late Richard Hudson in 1868. The merger is of considerable importance 1 to tbe industry in the dominion, and with tho strength of these firms with world-wide reputations behind the new organisation of Cadbury-Fry-Hndson, Ltd., New Zealand will possess a chocolate and confectionery factory equal to anything in tbe world. •Mr George Sara, who has been for many years in control of Cadburys and Frys in New Zealand, and Mr V. C. Smith, a managing director of Cadbury and Fry interests in Australia, will join the "board to represent Cadbury Bros., Ltd., and J. S. Fry and Sons, Ltd. The present principals of R. Hudson and Co., Ltd., will remain actively in the business, and be represented on tbe board by Messrs Richard and Robert Hudson. Mr Richard Hudson will continue as chairman of directors.
