The O.C. troops gave orders that the men were to fall in for a route march. After a thirsty and hard march ho called a halt. ’“Now, men,” he said, “I want to see the mettle you are made of. Take two paces to the front all those that cannot ‘do the return march at once.” All stepped to the front, with the exception of fkey; shaking him by the hand, the O.C. said: “ Ah, my man. Cm pleased to sec one man who is ready to march hack.” “ Vbat, me march hack?” explained Ikey. “ Vy, I’m too tired to take two paces to the front!”
