BYRD EXPEDITION
CITY OF NEW YORK SAILS TO-MORROW After many months of waiting, the Dunedin end cf the Byrd expedition is again on the move, and the City of New York will sail for the Bay of Whales at 2 o’clock to-morrow afternoon. * Given normal conditions, the ice pack should be reached in about a fortnight, and further progress then depends on the state of the pack. A* far as is known at present, none Of the whaling vessels at present operating in that region has been able to get through the pack yet. However, if the pack is , sufficiently, open. to. allow, her to get through, the City of New, York should arrive at the base in about a month. , . The City of New York is lying at the Victoria whan, and is taking aboard supplies of fresh food and also a large mail’ for the men at the ice camp. ■
