The Prince of Wales spent a quiet dav in saying farewells, .He will leave Waterloo at 1.30 this afternoon for Southampton. DEPARTURE FROM SOUTH- - AMPTON. (British Official ■'Wireless;) RUGBY, January S. (Received January 4, at 11.30 a.m.) The Prince of Wales had a cordial send-off when ho left to-day for Africa. By his own wish he travelled from Waterloo to Southampton as an ordinary passenger. At Southampton His Royal Highness was _ greeted by _ the mayor, who. wished him a happy journey and good sport. The Prince smilingly thanked him, and then, followed by his equerries, hurried up the gangway to the liner Kenilworth Castle He was received aboard by the captain, who conducted him to his sitting room on the promenade , deck. When the liner sailed at 4 o’clock the crowds on the quayside cheered and sang ‘ Auld Lang Syne’ and ‘God Save the King.’ A gale was blowing and rain was falling heavily. '
FAEEWELLED AT STATION. LONDON, January 3. (Received! January 4, at 10 a.m.) The crowd at Waterloo station warmly farewelled the Prince of Wales, who was en route to Southampton to join the Kenilworth Castle, on which he sails as an ordinary passenger for Capo Town. The Prince shook hands with a largo circle of relatives and friends, including the Duke , of! Gloucester, Prince George, and Sir Godfrey Thomas. Princess Louise affectionately kissed him good-bye and Said: “ Have a good time and enjoy yourself.”
