WARRINGTON NOTES

The Warrington Amenities Society, aided by the Householders’ Committee, at this favourite beach resort on I Thursday carried through a most successful gala day. Among the attractions were an interesting procession and a children’s sports meeting. The attendance of the general public was easily the best of the present season, and the funds of the bodies benefited substantially. A parking area for motor cars was kindly granted by Mr D. Ferguson, and he, with Messrs Inglis, Clark, and Kemp, assisted to the furtherance of the programme arranged. The parade started from the railway station after the arrival of the second excursion train, and proceeded to the beach to the sound of Klaxon horns,_ tiuhpets, and megaphone, and a whistling group. The procession was headed by 51* H, Folley, as Father Christmas, oh a decorated sledge, and this was followed by motor cars filled with a motley crowd of sailors, pirates, ballet dancers, footballers, and many others in fancy dress. The prizes for the best individual costumes were awarded to Mb' Geo. Groves (a Chinaman), Miss Sharp (a Dutch girl), Miss Margaret Gray (a witch with broom), and Master Will Sharp (a golly wog).
