BURNSIDE STOCK SALES

For the first sale of the year at Burnside to-day 1,040 fat sheep were yarded. The bulk were very plain wethers, only three tracks being forward of good prime wethers. These latter sold at a reduction of 2s per head on the last sale. Ewes showed a drop of from 3s to 4s a head._ Prime mutton brought 5Jd per lb, prime ewes 4Jd, and old ewes 4d per lb. Lambs were in over-supply, and consequently the competition was almost confined to exporters, who were not very keen bidders. Prices did not touch 8d per lb. The store cattle pens were filled wih old cows,, which met with a dull sale, the best bringing up to £B. A small yarding of fat pigs brought prices similar to those ruling last week. . One hundred and fortv-six fat cattle were offered, including some mediumquality bullocks. Prices were easier by 2s per head. Good beef brought 50s per. 1001 b.
