THE PAISLEY PANIC
WAS EXIT GATE LOCKED ? Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON. January 1. (Received January 2 at 2 p.m.) The Paisley .Town Council has decided to head the relief fund with a grant of l,ooogs and to defray the funeral expenses of the victims. In addition to this, many public bodies have initiated relief funds, as the majority of the families affected are of the working class. An inquiry is to be held, and one point on which stress will be laid is whether the rear exit gate was locked. It seems established that this was open before the performance, but was locked when scores of children endeavoured to escape. The scenes at the mortuary, where long rows of the victims are lying, bear evidence of the struggle. Torn clothes, bruised arms and legs, and feet without boots or stockings are to be seen. ' Tire funerals will be on Friday.
