Considerable interest is being taken in the new Road Traffic Bill, the terms of which will be published shortly, it is anticipated that the measure will propose the abolition of a speed limit lor all automobiles except charabancs, buses, and heavier commercial vehicles, which will be 'bound by a maximum speed of thirty miles an hour. The removal of the existing speed limit or twenty miles an hour, which has been largely disregarded in recent years, is expected to be accompanied by a tightening of the penalties for dangerous driving, including the suspension of a driver’s license for a second conviction. Other features are expected to include compulsory insurance against third party risks and limitation of the hours of drivers engaged in public motor services.
