The Prime Minister (Mr J. ft. &cullin), commenting on the decision to suspend compulsory military training among the youths of Australia, said that the Government had no. intention of interfering with the defence of the Commonwealth. There would be a general review of the military policy, with the idea of discovering a more efficient and less costly system. Other members of the Cabinet hinted that the former volunteer system would be introduced.
