PROPOSED HEW STATIOH FIVE YEARS TO COMPLETE. (British Official Wireless.) Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright. RUGBY, October 30. The Minister of Transport (Mr Herbert Morrison) made a statement in the House of Commons regarding the construction of a new Charing Cross station on the south side of the Thames to replace the present station on the north side. He said that_ before the construction of the new station could be commenced it would be necessary to clear the site and provide housing accommodation for people of the working class who would be displaced. It was estimated that the construction of the new station would nob take less than five years from the date of Royal assent to the Bill, which was being introduced this session.
