TODAY’S CASH PRICES The guide gives the prices ruling for cash in the city shops to-day. Meat prices:—Beef (roast), from 6d to 9d per lb; corned beef, 7d lb; mutton, from 5d to 9d lb; lamb, from lOd lb; pork, from lOd to Is lb. Grocery prices are:—Sugar, 2£d lb, eggs, is 3d and Is 4d dozen; butter, Is 8d and Is lOd lb; cheese, 1s 2d, Is 4d, and Is 6d (matured) per lb; bacon, Is 4d per lb; flour, 10s 9d (50’s), and 5s 8d (25’s). Other lines are steady. Vegetable prices are;—Prime onions, 4d lb; Taieri potatoes, 81b for Is; cabbages, 4d and 6d each; cauliflowers, 4d to Is; lettuce, 3d to 8d each; swedes, 14lfa for Is; spinach, 2d bunch; tomatoes, 8d and Is lb; local hothouse tomatoes, 3s lb; rhubarb, 3d per lb, or s(b for Is; green peas, lOd lb; Peninsula potatoes, Is 8d ib; white turnips, 2d bunch; hothouse cucumbers, Is 6d and 2s; new potatoes, Bd. Fruit is:— Navel oranges, 3 for Is and 3 for Is 3d; lemons, 5 for Is; Mildura lemons, 8 for Is; bananas, 8, 10, and 12 for Is; new season’s figs, 4d per packet; new season’s dates, 8d per packet; Delicious apples, 8d per !b or 31b for Is 9d; Sturmer apples, 4d and 6d Ib and 31b for Is 3d; grapes, Is 6d.
