The Revs. E. S, Tuckwell'S. Jenfcin, and H. E Edridge returned .last evening from the Baptist Conference at Auckland. ' Mr John J. D. Sullivan, managing director New Zealand Creditmcn’s Assor ciation, who came here to open offices, left tins morning for his headquarters at Wellington. Mr James Taylor is appointed the Dunedin director. Mr J H. Walker travelled to-dav by train to Timaru. Mr J. L. Saunders, Deputy Director of Dental Services, and son of the Rev, W. Saunders, started to-day on his return to Wellington. Mr H ,W Bundle, S.M., will commence a month’s furlough on October 31. ’ The Rev A. D. Horwell was presented by the Harbour Boaru employees at Nortn Spit witii a study chair in appreciation of the interest he had takeai in the camp and for his helpfulness in various ways. 1 Mr H. C. Campoeil, who had been in ill-health for several months, resumed his seat last night at the meeting ol the Har.jour Board. Mr W. Gow conveyed members’ felicitations to Mj Campbell. Th Rev. H. W. Newell, of Corimbatoro, South India, is at present'visiting Dunedin. Advice has been received from the principal of the Cayn© ‘Electrical College, Chicago, that Mr D. R. Henderson, of Mornington, has passed his final examinations with honours.

The late Mrs Alexander was like her father, kind, Jmnoar.urle, and unassuming iu manner. She took a live interest in the problems of lue and her Sympathy was lor the d uvntroddcii. Her loss will be felt not only by her inmily but by a large circle of friends.
