OTAGO YACHT CLUB
COMMITTEE MEETING A meeting of the committee of the Otago iacht and Motor Boat Club was held on Thursday evening. Tho commodore (Air C. W. Sumlstrum) presided A motion of sympathy with tho relatives of tho late Mr L. C. Gooch was carried. - A letter was received from the Harbour Board with reference to tho silting up of the boat harbour, lb was stated that the question would be considered by tho board. A letter was received from tho Otago Yacht and Motor Boat Association with reference to the amount contri kuted by various clubs to the Sanders and Cornwell Cup contests.—it was pointed out that the Otago Club’s contributions over a period of nine years had been equal to its quota. —Received. Tho letter brought forward the question of tho association’s finances.—lt was pointed out that, while the asso ciation had funds in hand, it had no money with which to assist the dubs to Jay out courses, to measure the courses already in existence, or to meet expenses connected with the control of racing in tho harbour.—lt was decided to recommend to the association that it shpuld create a fund from a special levy on all affiliated clubs. This fund coil id be used for procuring measuring gear and meeting expenses- in controlling racing, any dnb to have the right to the loan of the gear when required. The question of conducting club dances was left in the hands of Mr P. Drummond to arrange. One resignation was accepted and ten new members elected The .arrangements for opening day were reported to he well in hand The Commodore reported that a meeting of outboard motor boat owners had been held. The owners were 1 willing to race in the summer evenings, hut sufficient accommodation would have to be arranged for the boats over night. . ~ , The season’s racing syllabus as drawn up ■by the committee, was approved.
