Y.W.C.A.
At a meeting of the Y.W.C.A. Board of Directors the following were elected to hold office for the ensuing year:— Mrs Bridgman, president; Mesdames Nicolson and Elder, vice-presidents; Mrs J. O. Begg, minute secretary; Mrs Aikman, treasurer; Mrs Mackie Begg, publicity secretary. Mrs Bridgman presided at a board meeting held subsequently. Canon Button opened the meeting with prayer, and continued his study on ‘Christ In Industry,’ Arrangements were made for a period of devotion and study during each day chosen by the World’s Y.W.C.A. for the week of prayer, November 10 to 16, and to these meetings all association memBers are invited. Reports from all departments were received. The extension department is organising an industrial camp conference, to be held at Quarantine Island from Saturday to Monday at Labour week-end. The girls’ work department reported that a leaders’ training group had been formed, and was meeting, regularly. Arrangements are well in hand for the street sale day to be held on November 1, and stalls will be set up for the sale of handwork, flowers and seedlings, cakes, etc., but as the board considers that selling sweets and iced cakes is inconsistent with its policy of educating the youth in health matters, there will be no sweet stall.
