CITY’S WATER SUPPLY
DEPUTATION FROM RATEPAYERS URGENT TREATMENT OF MATTER PROMISED A.deputation from the Dunedin City Ratepayers’, Association, consisting of Dr Rowlands (president), Mr R. Duncan, and Mr C. H. Wing (secretary), waited on the mayor (Mr R. S. Black) yesterday to press that some action should be taken without delay for the augmenting of the city’s water supply* Ur Begg, chairman of the Water Committee, was present. After hearing the deputation’s repre-* seutations, His Worship promised that the matter would be treated as one of urgency. Mr Begg said he would be making a statement at next week’s meeting of the council on the whole question of the water supply. As evidence of the association’s constant pressing of this subject, the following is an abstract of correspondence we have been shown referring to it:-

Sincock gave report on water supply and a request to the engineer,. May 15; letter to town clerk asking for engineer’s report, June 23; .Water Committee’s reply, July 5; letter to town clerk asking for engineer’s report, August 13; Water Committee’s reply, stating satisfaction with regard to engineer’s report, August 30; resolution passed by association, and sent to town clerk, September 10; City Council’s reply respecting engineer’s report, October 5; letter to town clerk, .October 17; Mr E. Sincock interviews dry engineer, December 15; Mr E. Sincock interviews city engineer, February 12, 1929; city engineer said he was not yet in a position to furnish a report, hut was prepared to receive the president and any other member of the association, and give some March 26; Dr Newlands and Mr K. Sincock reported having seen the city engineer, April. 16.
