A .sensational train hold-up by armed masked dacoits was frustrated at Malcr kotla, in the Jnnjab, by the pluck of the crew of the engine. Whilst the train was travelling at mVht a passenger armed with a, revolver pulled the communication cord and brought the train to a standstill. A gang of twenty immediately appeared from the darkness, avid guns were fired at the crews of both engines, the drivers' being wounded. The dacoits attempted to force a safe in the guard’s van, but they were driven off by a fusillade from the' guard and the firemen.—United Service.
