PORT CHALMERS-DUNEDIN ROAD
TO TEDS BDITOK. Sir, —I noticed in last night’s ‘Star’ that at a meeting of the City Council a report was brought up regarding the Dunedin-Port Chalmers road referring to £3,000 odd to be spent on maintenance. I thoroughly endorse Cr H. L. Tapley’s remarks as to spending money on maintaining this road in its present state. Cr Wilson apparently approves of this waste of money going on. Out-of-dato methods of doing the work, such as the rake and shovel one, make it costly and unable to stand up against tho motor traffic of the present day. If metal was put on the road and crowned up and well blinded and the sides lowered with a grader, we might see some result for our money.—l am, etc., August 16. Ratepayer.
