The first attempt to fly across Iho English Channel with an engineless airplane is to be made before long 'by Hans Richter, of Berlin, who will undertake the flight in a machines of-his own construction, to h« '•"«• —v-v tliß name of Astoria. The plane is a well-constructed machine, aklnm,;,. , mittedly fragile; whether it will be capable of crossing the Channel remains to be seen. It has a span of twelve metres, a wing surface of sixteen square metres, and weighs eighty kilograms.
