The, Belfast correspondent of; the ‘ Daily News ’ says that as a direct result of the Bremen’s success, the vVhite Star Company has scrapped the I,oooft long keel of the Oceanic, which Princess Mary laid at Harland and Wolff’s shipyard last October as _ the foundation of the world’s liner. Soon after it was laid, vfork on it was suspended until the Bremen’s capabilities could be assessed, and preparations are already under way for laying a new and larger keel. The Oceanic’s original plans, which have now been scrapped, were for a vessel of I,oooft long, with a gross tonnage of 60,000, and estimated to cost £6,000,000. —United Service.
