-NOTES OK THE RACING [By St. Claus, j Tiie weather lor the .second day's trotting at Addington was line, with bright sunshine and a cold casterlv wind, and the track was in first-class condition, ns tlio last times recorded during the afternoon showed.'. The attendance was very la'rge, and’ 1 throughout _ the afternoon the betting was spirited, the totalisator turnover, £41),7204. showing an increase ot i’ll,Did on the figures for the corresponding day last your," Several horses showed much improved form on that shown on Saturday and after Carmel won the Belgium Handicap the stewards held an inquiry into his change of form. The explanations of those behind the horse were eventually accepted, but Hie .stipendiary stewards were commended for, taking action in making the inquiries.. The King George Handicap was run at a very solid pace throughout, and all three placed horses qualified for the Cup.

s After the good form lie showed on the opening day Ivoro Peter was made a good favourite for the . Improvers' Handicap, and was much better backet! than Aileen Wood, who broke at the start, or Tonic, only these three being solidly backed. Herbilwin at once went to the front, and at tlio end of six furlongs was six lengths clear of Ando Beil Wild Hebe, and Young Carbine. Halfway throng!) the final lap the favourite made a forward move, but put in a coujdo of skips, which, however, did not cost him much ground, and Ando Bell broke and dropped out. Her bilwin led. Young Carbine and the favourite into the straight, and with a great run to the post insl got up to 'eat Herbilwin by halt a length. Young Caihine was three lengths away third, and Duke Rmgen and Wild Hebe next. The winner’s time, 6.25, works out at better than a 2.17 clip, and showed how good the track was. Investments, £3,317}.

Thj betting on the Dash Handicap was very spirited between High Jinks, Logan Hanlon, and the bracket, Nelson M'Cormack and Lingfield, these three being each nearly twice as well backed as Downcast, who', as usual, was slow to leave the mark. Sahib was the first to show out, but before going a furlong Lady Matchlight had run past him, and she led Grey Cloud and Sahib into the final lap. There was no change in the leading division until nearly two furlongs from home, when Sahib drop ped out. Lady Matchlight was still hi charge at the turn, where Grey Cloud was at hei girths and Logan Hanlon closing up. Lady Matchlight stopped at the distance post, and opposite the lawn stand the Otago Central horse caught Grey Cloud and heat him home by a length and a-half. Lingfield was two lengths away third, and Nelson M’Cormack and Lady Matchlight were next Investments, £5,255. * * * • With a fast track ami, almost perfect climatic conditions Tor oaco the King George Handicap had the additional added interest in that several of the starters were expected to qualify for. tlie Now Zealand'Trotting Cup. Dimdas Boy, who was unlucky in Ids race on Saturday, was sent out a much better favourite than King Pointer or Terence Dillon, who wore evenly backed, with Padlock and Glideaway next fancied. Logan Park shot to the front after going a couple, of furlongs, and led Logan Chief. Native Prince, and Daphne de Oro. There was no change at the commencement of the last lap, Logan. Park was still ten lengths clear of Logan Chid. Native Prince, Daphne de Oro; Vesuvius. Padlock, Dundas Boy wide out." and Terence DiUnn. Halt a mil : from home Logan Park "as still six i -ndhs to the good oi Native, Prince. Padlock, and the 'avonrhc who was on the ontGdk oh.five -.ii'kies Vith ■three I'ni'lmms to go Logan Par; was four lengths to the good of Dnnrlns Roy. win was just m front of Padlock, and Terence Dillon was moving up fast. Directly the straight was entered Pad lock haiing a much shoiimi course to steer, set nut alter Logan Park ; and, catching- him a hundred yards from

tho post, heat him by nearly two Icngtlis. Dnndas Boy was three lengths away third, and followed by Daphne de Oro and Terence Dillon. The honours of the race were with Logan Park, who sot the field a very solid task of catch ing him, and Dundas' Roy was again the unlucky horse, as he was forced to cover a lot of extra ground to knock morn than 4sco off his handicap for third money. Investments, £8.54(5.

Lindbergh was made the subject of heavy wagering in tho Belgian Handicap, and many of his admirers wore prepared to see him qualify for the Now Zealand Cup, but he was given a very bad passage in the race, , and, racing round tho top,, a most critical part of , the journey ) he was forced to tho extreme outside’of the course, and this settled his chance Next to Lindbergh Carmel, the bracket (Grandlight and Zella), and Curfew Boy wore the best backed. Zella, Kautoma, and Lady Cello were the smartest to move out, the favourite losing nearly four seconds at the start. Zella led Kautoma. Carmel, Lady Cello, and Erin’s Lynn throughout the second lap, where the favourite was lying at the last of a hunched field. Zella continued in the lead,, and turned into tho straight just clear of Carmel, hut in the run to the post tho latter beat her by half a length. Once the favourite got deaf he ’ travelled very fast down the straight to finish third three lengths away. Great Delight am! Grandlight were next. Both the winner and second horse's performances, to-day wore much hotter than they showed on Saturday. Investments, £7.1,545.

In tlio Lincoln Handicap Great Logan was sent out hotter fancied than Hoi TOr, with Linkman, Evelyn Locanda, Trimmer, and Zenith each well supported. Again Downcast was a little slow to strike his gait, and Nelson M'Corrnack led out from Orphan, Boi I'Or losing at least a couple of seconds, when the tapes’ were released. Nelson M‘Connaek was in charge going down the back stretch from Orphan. Trimmer, and Zenith, Hoi TOr moving up round tlio outside of the field. At the home turn Nelson M'Corrnack was still in charge, whore Hoi i’Or was outside wide, and Linkman just behind and inside him. Hoi I’Or looked all over a winner at the grand stand, but just failed over the last s()yds, and Linkman. who finished very fast, found an opening to get through, and Just caught and bent Nelson M'Corrnack by a short neck. Genuine was a length away third, and close up followed Zmiith and Hoi I’Or. In vestments, £5,931.1.

Western Voyage was sent out nearly nn even money chance for the Avon Handicap, for unhoppled trotters, and carried a few hundred pounds more on his chances than Bingen Starr, only these two being solidly backed. Bingen Starr, the only starter on the limit, went off slowly, and then broke, and before a couple of furlongs had been covered the favourite had taken charge on the rails, and led Audominion, Nighborn, and Lc Todd passing the stand (half a mile). There was little change in the loading order in the next mile, these four trotting in dostorder. Entering the last lap Western Voyage was half a length in front of Audominion, with Engagement and. Le Todd close up, and the back markers beaten’ off. Three furlongs Irom home Audominion dropped out. and Le Todd broke. Engagement challenged Western Voyage at the homo turn, but the favourite had plenty in reserve, and won comfortably ’by a length and a-quarter from Engagement, who beat Bingen Starr by a length, both of them going to a break a low yards from the post. Le Todd and Nighborn next. Investments, £5,462

In the .Canterbury Handicap Dilworth was sent out a very hot favourite, carrying considerably more on her chance than Harvest Child, and tin’s pair was much belter hacked than Glenelg or Maiwhariti. Before hn!i_ a furlong had been covered the favourite hit the front, and led Maiwhariti, Desert Star, Billy Sea, and Glenelg all running in close order. At the end of a mile Dilworth was leading from Desert Star, Maiwhariti, and High Jinks, and with a lap to go.the order of the loaders was Dilworth, Mnjwhariti. High Jinks, Billy Sen, and Glenolg, running in dose order. Pluto improved his position going along the hack, ami followed the favourite and Maiwhariti into the run home. At the distance post the latter chullenged, and in an exciting ■finish got up to win by a long neck. Pluto was three lengths away third Harvest Child. Billy Sea. and Glenelg were next. Investments. I'lie three hack markers, Great Bingen, Logan -Park, and "Vwcnce Dillon were evenly supported for the. Speedway Handicap, will) Cardinal Logan and Nalive Prince next fancied. .lean M'Elwyu was the first U) show out from Golden Devon, and at the end- of the first half-mile Jean fV!‘F.!wyn_ was clear of Golden Devon and Almrin. Both Native Prince and Western Kin" improved their positions going along the back, and at the turn for home Jean MdEhvvn was just in front of Golden Devon, the' pair being two lengths clear from Native Prince and Western King. In the run home Native Prince finished very fast, and heat, Western King by a length. Joan M'Ehvyo was half a length off third, and Golden ! Dcvon, Terence Dillon, and Logan Park were next.
