STAKES IQ BE REDUCED The committee of tlio Auckland Racing Club lias decided to reduce the stakes for its tour meetings in the current season by £2,400 to £58,550. |ho Great ‘Northern Champagne Stakes has. been reduced from £1,500 to £I.OOO. the Mitchelson Cup and the Great Northern.. Foal Stakes each from £1,500 to £1,250, the Railway Handicap from £1,400 to £1 250, tiie A.R.C. Handicap from £1,750 to £1,500, and the Summer Cap. from £1,250 to £I,OOO. The reductions in other races are smaller, and the Auckland Cup stake is unchanged at £3,000. The stakes for the Brighton Hurdles have been increased from £SOO to £6OO. The distance of the Clifford Plato' (weight for age) at the summer meeting has been reduced from a mile and a-half to a mile and a-quarter.
