BURNSIDE STOCK' SALES
EOBD CATTLE SALE EXPECTED , In view of the few head in the yarding of fat cattle at Burnside to-day, and following a comparatively small market last week, indications pointed to a good sale. ’ Pat Cattle. —A yarding of 154. This was made up of mixed quality, and the proportion of plain to prime cows and heifers was fairly large. Pat Sheep.—There was a representative yarding of 2,0G0 head. The proportion of heavy prime and fine-wool wethers was quite good, while some oi the latter animals were plain. There was also a good entry of mixed ewes, vith somo heavy sorts included. The demand was up to Is Gd down for heavy wethers and ewes, while light prime sorts were Is easier. The selling continued on that basis for all classes, with the exception of heavy ewes, which later lifted about 9d a head. Prices: Extra /ethers. 49s to 535; prime heavy, 45s to 475; prime, 37s to 41s; medium, 34s to 35s 9d; light. 2Ss to 31s; extra ewes to 495; prime heavy, 39s to 41s; prime, !5s to 375; medium, 30s to 345; light, ’s to 265. Tluie was a sprinkling of hoggets, which sold at prices somewhat lower than previously. The works have been closed down for the lamb sales, and. the lew yarded brought from 25s to 32s a 'lead. Store Cattle. Under 109 mixed grades of cows comprised the yarding these met with a good demand at prices a few shillings dearer than last week Pigs.—-The 59 fats were chiefly baconers, there being only a few porkers J’lie competition was keen, and prices moved up from 7s 6d to 10s a head. Fifty stores were in the penning.
