11. 11. Cairns, one oi' the best-known iuckeys’in Australia ami New Zealand, was fatallv injured when his mount, Quick Deal, fell in the Ccllibrand Hurdles at Mooneo Valley yesterday. Tile bursa somersaulted at the last lence, its hindquarters crashing on the rider, whoso skull was hadlv fractured.
1 Deceased was one of-the best-known horsemen in Australia, holding licenses from both tho Victorian Racing Club and Australian Jockey Club. Ho rode equally well on the Hat and across hurdles or steeplechase country, and quite a number of the winners of the principal races in Australia were ridden by the deceased horseman.]
