TO-NIGHT’S HEW ZEMAND PMDMHMES Two sketches appear on this evening’s programme at IYA. The performers will be members of tbs Auck> land University Literary Society. The sketches will b© ‘ The Stepmother ’ and ‘The Grand Chem’s Diamond.’ Other elocutionary numbers will be given by Mr Alan M'Skiraining. These items will comprise ‘ WolsOy On His Fall, ‘Open Spaces,’ and humorous numbers. The versatile Miss Edna Langmuir will be associated with Miss Daphpe Higbara \n a series of vocal, piano, aqd violin numbers.

A lecture by Sir Francis Boys, president of the Canterbury Amateur Aero Chjb, wjU be given at 3YA this evening, and the Royal Christchurch Choral Society, under the conductorship of Mr W. H. Dixon; L.R.A.M., A.C.R.M., n ill present ‘ Caractacus.’ Tills will be the first public performance by the society since t}ie appointment of Mr Dixon. Before leaving England, and M’hcn in charge of the Ipswich Choral Society, he produced ‘Caractacus,’ and that other of Elgar’s masterpieces, ‘The jPream of Geroptius.’ TTic Christchurch performance this evening can be relied upon to be a splOndid entertainment. First-class soloists have been engage*!. They will be:—Soprano, Mrs C. Tait (Timarn); tenor, Mr Hubert Carter (Wanganui’); baritone, Mr Win. Genimell (Auckland) ; bass, Mr T. D. Williams (Christchurch). Two relays, to be conducted by 4YA, will be from the Ritz, where tjie orchestra will play two novelty entr’actes. Three line s6ngs will bo sung by Mr A. W. Alloo (baritone)—‘Nelson’s Gone a’Sailing,’ ‘The Diver.’ and ‘ Angels Guard Thee.’ There will be two sketches by Miss Anitfi Winkel and Major F. H. Lain pen. Instrumental items will bo played by the Brass Quintet, and instrumental solos by Mr G. Lowry (fingelhoni), Mr 1). Scott (tenor horn), and Mr W. J- Nelson (baritone). Silent day at 2YA.
