PAPER THAT WON’T BURN
A GERMAN INVENTION Non-inflammable paper has been invented by Fritz Frank, a Berlin chemist. according to the Germ on correspondent of ‘ Industrial and Engineering Chemistry,’ journal of the American Chemical Society. Frank, the correspondent writes, has obtained paper which will not burn at temperatures up to 700 deg centigrade, and which is au extremely poor conductor of heat. A test of paper, according to the cci respondent, was made by Idling an envelope made of the new substance with ordinary newspapers. The envelope was then held over a Jiunsen burner for some time, and neither it nor its contents wcro affected. “ Work looking toward the invention of incombustible paper,” the correspondent rvrites, “ is being carried on in many countries. The production of this incombustible paper is said ti* involve a transformation of celluloseFrank is now engaged in experiment for the production of an incombustible ink.” •, ■- -b
