TASMANIAN MINISTER
UNABLE TO VISIT CUNEBjN Sir Walter Lee, K.C.M.G., Minister of Lands and Works, of Tasmania, will not be able to visit Dunedin owing to the limited time at his disposal. The Chamber of Commerce invited Sir Walter to conic here, and stated that it was acting for all other bodies in the South Island in connection with the resumption of the Hobart-Bluff steamship service. Sir Walter lias replied that, owing to the unprecedented floods in Tasmania, it is incumbent on him to return at the earliest opportunity, as he administers the ■ Public Works Department, which will have to carry out all the repair work. Sir Walter has been in conference with the New Zealand Government on the question of tho resumption of the service, and a further meeting has been arranged. He deeply appreciates the efforts of the chamber to resuscitate this service, which, ho considers, will he mutually advantageous to New Zealand ami Tasmania.
