The new office girl was_ trying her best to be efficient in all things. When a persistent commercial traveller called one afternoon she took his card into the manager. “ Oh, I can’t spare anytime for that fellow!” declared the manager. “Go and tell him I’ mont.” The girl returned to the traveller. “ I’m sorry,” she said, “ but the manager says he’s out.” “Indeed!” observed the traveller ’ sarcastically. “ Well, would you bo good enough to present him with my compliments and say that I haven’t called?,”
